Winter Walk Day is a great program to get Albertans out for fifteen minutes, on one of the frostiest days of the year, to promote active living, and to help Albertans embrace the cold season. Shape Alberta wanted an online hub for the promotion of the activity and the connection of participants.
We worked with Parodos Communications to create and maintain a Facebook page that became a place for organizations to challenge each other, for participants to brag about their accomplishments, and to spread awareness of the event.
We almost doubled our target of 1500 likes by the day of the event, and watched the levels of engagement climb steadily as the day approached. The year’s goal of 110,000 participants was exceeded by over 20% (133,000).
